SEJC 2014

Part of The Herald staff traveled to Lafayette, La. this weekend for the Southeastern Journalism Conference. We had a blast and came home with some awards! I personally snagged 7th place for Best Magazine Writer, our online editor Caleb got 5th place for Best Arts and Entertainment Writer, and our news editor Bethany placed 3rd for the onsite Radio News Reporting contest. I believe we did fantastic.

Overall, The Herald got 9th Best Newspaper!

It was a great weekend for all of us. We didn’t get to see much of the town but we did get to eat at the Blue Dog Cafe, an experience in itself.

As for the conference, I handed out my first resume to a potential employer, the Gannett Company that owns The Daily Advertiser and Media Acadien. It was a terrifying moment to be honest because it hit me that I graduate in three months and I’ll be out in the real world looking for a big kid job. Hire me, please!
